August Kamp Instagram – “most people around here call them lifeguards. i’ve only ever heard stories about them being friendly. they help forest creatures if they’re hurt or stuck – and sometimes people, too. but they’re shy around people i guess. i saw one when i was eleven but it got startled and pretended to be wreckage. they used to be battle machines, you know. during the war, but these guys were some of the first defectors. the onboard ai systems got too smart, just couldn’t compute hurting anyone. a bunch of them ran away into the forest and sorta became a part of it. ”
