Cameron Esposito Instagram – The block where Katy & I spent the pandemic is the edge of the Eaton fire. The flames reached the homes there. We walked those streets daily, and very often hiked the canyon as a family. Took our wedding photos there. Spent holidays with our neighbors. Some folks in Upper Hastings Ranch—the most welcoming, multi-cultural neighborhood where we have ever lived alongside many mixed-race couples, Asian American and queer folks and, honestly, a variety of political signs dotting front yards—have lost their homes, along with many friends in Altadena. Altadena & Sierra Madre were our downtowns during that time.

If you don’t know, Altadena is a historically Black community where some homes stayed within the same family for generations. With the Angeles National Forest as its backdrop, the unincorporated area is known for small businesses, artistic expansion, the Bunny Museum, Christmas Tree Lane, wild peacocks & parrots, and horses boarded in backyard stables.

Now living several miles west, we are not nearly the most affected during this time. But I wanted to tell you about the impact of the losses in this area. Will keep sharing opportunities to support in my stories. | Posted on 12/Jan/2025 00:39:23
