somewhere between grandiosity and self loathing. i had a 102 fever this week and started severance and watched an entire season of 90 day fiance. well i slept through most of it and woke up just to click yes Hulu i’m still watching. everything feels heavy. the winter is hard. here’s to hoping spring comes soon. this is a song more specifically about the self loathing end of the spectrum. i wrote this on a day i felt like the worst person alive. feel free to roast me while i take a lap and get a grip.
every time im back home in connecticut i come park my car in this spot and watch the sunset. sometimes i catch ten minutes, sometimes i stay until the police tell me they’re closing the beach for the night and it’s time to go. i parked here and cried over college drama and silly little arguments with my parents. i parked here and listened to demos for both SWR mixtapes. i parked here and kissed boys, i parked here and kissed girls. ive sat with friends and loved ones while laughing, ive sat alone and slammed my steering wheel while screaming at the universe. on christmas eve i came here for a while and listened through some of the new music ive been making. i thought about how much has changed since i started coming to this spot and also about how much is exactly the same. we get so used to certain identities and narratives that it’s hard and terrifying to create new ones. my story used to always be that i was a college athlete who dropped out to make music in my bedroom and i was so mentally ill and we were always still “just getting started.” now im three albums into a record deal and we played radio city and im turning 28 soon. and i dont really feel like i want to die very often anymore. i don’t know what im really saying and im sure this will all come back up soon as i work through this next album. so i guess you’re kinda seeing me ideate and process in real time. chelsea shut the fuck up. anyways here’s a minute of a song i wrote recently. maybe i should delete this. gtg
