Holland Taylor Instagram – After her sensational 50th birthday party at @ChateauMarmont – where Sarah was mobbed and hugged and kissed and danced with like crazy by a couple hundred nearest and dearest, long-time friends and new – a bunch of kids from her high school days – her best pal at eleven, movie stars and fellow cast members from the length of her 30 year career… one mother, two sisters, one partner, a couple of Moguls, writers, hair/make up geniuses, wardrobe doyennes from both costumes and fashion-all of us in a joyous crush-
As the crowd thinned a bit in the later hours – the absolute banging DJ led us on a fabulous journey of 70’s music to the 90’s… and then, carried in like Cleopatra’s barge- a massive cake that every single person said was the greatest cake they had ever eaten in their life, arrived – Sarah glowed in the candle light and the rafters at @Chateau sighed with pleasure.
AFTER all that, two days later, on her actual Birthday, Sarah and I went for a little dinner, just us, at the Bel Air, and as we enjoyed our cocktails, I marveled at her talents.
As an actress she is proving to be a varied and mightily gifted artist, a delightful clown, and a profound guide through the human experience – but it is her gift for
Friendship that is the true marvel. And for nourishing and keeping all her relationships, tending to them, often at significant expense of time when she doesn’t have it, and lending emotional support when she is truly exhausted. Her generosity is legendary, like someone throwing money off the back of trains.
