Jane Goodall Instagram – 🥰🌹 It’s always exciting to see the possibility of “romance” brewing at Tchimpounga sanctuary! But with romance comes the sting of rejection, as our friend Jeje is learning.
As Jeje (photo 1) has gotten older, two female chimpanzees, Nzounzou and Zimbana (photos 2 3, respectively), have caught his attention as he follows his biological instinct to mate. Nzounzou and Zimbana prefer to sleep in the forest on the protected Ngombe Island and rarely return to the indoor sleeping area where many of their friends spend the night. To show his interest, Jeje has begun to join them, trying to build his nest in the same tree as theirs. 🌳🌿
However, the two are clearly not impressed by his advances. In fact, they can turn very aggressive if he gets too close. Soon, Jeje must learn when to move on — we wish him luck finding a match 💞
