I’ve spent over 3 decades coaching successfully families with diagnosed and also undiagnosed/ traits of ADHD and I can tell you each family are very special and unique, adult & child.
Some with other characteristics like HSP and others with extreme O.D.D but each family when willing to committ to an outcome better, even when feeling strung out with lots of life challenges, make amazing opportunities for themselves as a family and soar.
So never give up on yourselves parents so that you teach your children never to give up on themselves too.❤️

Children with ADHD whom most have Rejection Sensitivity Disphoria, struggle to be honest at times because they attach their behaviour to the low self value of how they see themselves. Meaning, they think, you think badly of them and not the behaviour in question.
So it is always important to focus on the family value of honesty when having these many conversations and there will be many.
When you know they are not telling the truth because they are fearful of you judging them, you make it about the truth, empathetically and with maturity. This puts you on the same side as your child and course correcting the ‘behavour’ becomes the focus and steers away from a you Vs them.
It is not to say you won’t be disappointed or them remorseful or that one ignores accountability but it will bring your child closer to understanding as a family you do value being truthful with eachother and therefore this positive parenting creates a safe space for a child to seek your parental guidance when things don’t always go as perhaps desired.
