Juliana Harkavy Instagram – When this photo was taken, between takes, @kristofferson was writing a song on the fly. “I wanna be a dolphin when I die”. He never wrote down the lyrics though I wish I had, just slowly put it together line by line as we filmed the scene. Needless to say, watching the man who wrote “Bobby McGee” come up with a song that seemed to be just for us was one of my life’s greatest pinch-me moments.
Kris was a soul-born artist. There was no stopping it. His creativity was a tsunami. It came out in big ways, in little ways, a glance, a hum, a smile. He was touched, and he bled kindness. To know him was not only to love him, but to feel something, deeply. Alive, comforted, awakened, amused, bewildered. “I wanna be a dolphin when I die”… it’s hard to believe that day has come. But if the life of a dolphin is what you wanted, dear Kris, I’ll be watching the oceans. Because if you’re there, so is the magic.
