Kelsey Barnard Clark Instagram – I was 21 when I met Sara. She was forced to give “some blonde Alabama girl” a kitchen tour during my stage at Dovetail in NYC. At the time, no one took me seriously in the Michelin chef world, but she did. She talked me out of a 2 AM tattoo, saying sorry too much, and taking everything too seriously. She talked me into champagne & oysters always, owning your worth, and making people pay attention, with ferocious grit. A few years later we unknowingly reunited on this show called Top Chef, where we ceremoniously smacked each other on the a$& when we met, competitor to competitor, at Churchill Downs. The rest of the story y’all know, but I mean it when I say there’s no one I would’ve rather stood next to, or lost to, than her. It was never a competition of me verses her.
