Melinda Shankar Instagram – I have a tattoo on my rib cage from 15 years ago that says “live.” While I’ve always sought adventure, fun, and magic, I’ve never forgotten that backwards, it spells “evil.” It’s a constant reminder of life’s balance—light and darkness, good and bad.

Recently, I experienced this firsthand when I was struck by a random virus while in England for the Holidays. The devil almost claimed me, but instead, I ended up at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, fighting for my life. Despite being fit and healthy, the swift takedown was unbelievable. The doctors and nurses were angels, and I truly felt the power of God and the collective prayers surrounding me. It was a humbling experience that reminded me how precious and fragile life is.

I learned several powerful lessons I wanted to share:

1. Don’t try to be a hero when you’re unwell. I was battling a “flu” self medicating with garlic and bone broth, but I’ve regained faith in Western medicine as it saved my life and will work to blend it with holistic practices.
2. Accept help. If it weren’t for my partner, Josh, recognizing the severity of my condition, I wouldn’t have made it through the night. I had to surrender completely, and in doing so, my heart expanded with gratitude for the love and support I received.
3. Never take your body or your ability to move for granted. It was humbling to be hooked to machines and unable to reach the help button when it would fall.
4. Fresh air is a luxury. When you can’t stand, going outside becomes a privilege—get out and connect with nature whenever you can.
5. Prayer is powerful. With God by your side, you’re never alone.

Through this journey, I’ve deepened the bond with my mind, body and soul and have grown spiritually in ways I’ve never expected to be possible. I’m on the mend and ready to face this year with renewed strength and purpose. 🙏🏽🪬 | Posted on 13/Jan/2025 18:27:52
