Ming-Na Wen Instagram – On Dec 23rd, 2024, many of my @carnegiemellon classmates, alums & I felt the heavy loss of our wonderful mentor, Mel Shapiro. 🙏🏼😢💔
It’s taken me a bit to process his passing. Time travelled back to my college days. What a trip we shared! He was the head of our drama school at carnegie-mellon and taught us so much! His years of experience as an accomplished director and playwright gave us invaluable lessons.
The class of 1986 had a special bunch of kids and majority of us have remained close friends. We were all sharing texts when we got the sad news, remembering our Mel.
Thank you, Mel, for all the laughs, the training and the no bullshit talks about show biz. On a personal note, I am forever grateful to him for introducing me to my soulmate, Eric. Greatest matchmaker. Best casting job ever! ❤️
