Nehalaxmi Iyer Instagram – ✨Celebrating Our First Haldi Kumkum After Marriage! ✨

This #MakarSankranti was extra special as it was our first one after marriage, and we celebrated it in traditional Maharashtrian style! 💛🖤

I embraced the custom of wearing black attire for Sankranti and adorned myself with Halwa Dagine, the beautiful jewelry made from sugar beads that symbolizes sweetness and prosperity. 🍬✨

One of the highlights of the celebration was hosting a Haldi Kumkum ceremony at home! It was a heartwarming experience inviting women over, applying haldi (turmeric) and kumkum (vermillion), and exchanging blessings. This tradition is all about bonding, positivity, and good fortune. 💛🔴

Of course, Sankranti is incomplete without Tilgul, the special sesame and jaggery sweets. Sharing them while saying “Tilgul ghya, god god bola”—meaning “Take this tilgul and speak sweetly”—reminds us to spread love and kindness all year long. 🌸🍯

From dressing up in traditional style to embracing these beautiful rituals, this festival was filled with love, laughter, and togetherness. Truly a day to cherish forever! 🥰✨
