Noa Tishby Instagram – A few weeks ago while in Israel I got a call from my Vavi @mottyreif He was in tears. Motty has been working with one of the best fashion schools in the world @shenkar_college for over two decades. Every year he directs the graduates fashion show, which is one of the most exciting events in Israeli fashion. “I have never seen anything like this”, his voice was shaking. “I have been working with the graduates for decades and I have never seen so much pain in fashion design”. He told me the new graduates have inserted October 7 into their designs in the most powerful, painful, expressive and authentic ways. I immediately asked to come and film these talented graduates.
And I am sharing this post with you today because it’s my Vavi’s birthday and how moved he was by the students is the perfect example of who this man is.. he feels. He feels hard.
Motty has been by my side since I was nineteen years old. Young and talented, confused and anxious he saw through me and he saw me way better than I saw myself. Motty (or as we call each other – Vavi) told me from the minute we met that I will not find myself until later in life. “You’re only going to start your journey at 40” he said. And he was right.
So instead of just sharing a birthday post, I wanted to share with all of you this post – a part of Motty’s life work. Finding young talent, seeing them for who they are, encouraging and empowering them. Making them believe in themselves and thrive. There are so many people that owe him so much I am the first in line.
Happy birthday my Vavi. So lucky to have you and now @simorlouzon in my life. I wish for us many decades many lifetimes together. I love you…
