Noa Tishby Instagram – Today marks the anniversary of September 11, a day that forever changed history. Twenty-three years ago, we watched in horror as jihadi terrorists hijacked planes, crashing them into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania, taking nearly 3,000 lives in an act of unspeakable hatred. It was a morning when the world stood still, families were shattered, and we were reminded of an ideology rooted in destruction and fear. As individuals and as a global community, we promised that we would never forget.
But today, on this solemn anniversary, we must ask ourselves: Have we?
On October 7th, we witnessed another atrocity. Hamas terrorists launched a brutal and unprovoked attack on innocent civilians. The horror of that day echoes the same terror of 9/11. And yet, the world seems divided in its response. But let’s be very clear: the ideology behind both of these attacks is the same.
Jihadism didn’t start or end with Osama bin Laden. It lives on—in new places, in different forms—but it is the same evil, the same violence, the same goal: to destroy everything we stand for. To destroy freedom, democracy, and human life.
We must never forget that this ideology is still very much alive.
So today, on this solemn anniversary, let us come together as we once did. Let us never forget what we stand for: peace, freedom, and the right to live without fear. Just as we stood united after 9/11, we must stand united now, against Hamas, against any form of terrorism, and against the dangerous narrative that seeks to justify it. Because whether it’s Al-Qaeda or Hamas, the ideology is the same.
As we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on 9/11, we must also remember those taken by the senseless violence of October 7th. We must never forget the families shattered, the futures stolen, and the freedoms threatened by the evil of terrorism. Today, we must, once again, stand against hatred and violence in all its forms.
