It felt so incredible to get back into the gym & the redbull family are so supportive, the first step is always the hardest then you remember how much you enjoy moving!! all the athletes are different , as in any gym, & it was such a good feeling to start using my body in the gym again & remembering how capable you are is really empowering. REDBULL UK training camp// Athlete Performance Centre // Austria 🇦🇹 I was super nervous to go into this camp at the start of Jan, having not been properly in the gym for many many months, I thought I’d be embarrassed – However it was SO GOOD! It felt so incredible to get back into the gym & the redbull family are so supportive, the first step is always the hardest then you remember how much you enjoy moving!! all the athletes are different , as in any gym, & it was such a good feeling to start using my body in the gym again & remembering how capable you are is really empowering. The APC is an insane place with incredible resources & apparently you can book to go there as a “non pro” 😜 The competitive drive in me quickly reared its head on the last day during our “Hyrox” session & I found myself pushing myself harder than I knew my fitness was capable of at the moment but that racer inside my head just always wants to do well, so I pushed as hard as I could putting in some good max watts, good splits on the ski erg & rower before puking more than I’ve ever puked before from exercise 🤣🤣🤣 Thought I was a goner for a minute!! 🤣 Obviously Gee & Affy smashed the lot of them & put in some serious times! 🤪 Training for me is still so closely linked with racing & when I train hard & feel strong it’s too tempting to go back to racing, for a while there last year or so since I dislocated my shoulder at fort William world champs, I’ve purposefully stopped training so I’m not tempted to race, It’s almost a form of self sabotage, the only way I can resist racing is to literally not be capable of racing 🤣 but I know i need to find a way to be strong & fit without my brain jumping to thinking it’s racing, it’s actually insane how quickly my body tunes into racing as soon as I step into the gym or ride my DH bike! I love training & I love going as fast as possible on my bike, maybe that’s the only reason I need!
