There’s something going on with @renatereinsve and @halfdant. With one acclaimed, award-winning film in the can and another already in the pipeline, the superstar actor and first-time feature filmmaker are already on their way to being the next significant, culture-shifting film duo to come out of Norway. It’s a poetic distinction, given that Ullmann Tøndel is the grandson of Ingmar Bergman and Liv Ullmann. “We have a really special chemistry and we kind of thrive on each other’s work and ideas,” says Ullmann Tøndel, noting that the moment they started shooting Armand, he knew this collaboration was something special. Though @renatereinsve came up in the theatre and knows all the so-called techniques, when it comes to film, she doesn’t particularly enjoy acting in a technical way. She prefers to feel it – all of it; a frankly unpleasant-sounding experience for an actor who leans towards emotionally chaotic characters. “I want to see what’s in me and how far I can push myself. And I’ve experienced some things, like everyone, in life where you’re on your limit.
