🌹 Joy. If you had told me I would feel sincerely full of Joy after my accident, I would not have believed you. January 10th is always a day of mixed emotions. The reflection on how far I’ve come, the realization on how long it’s been, the memories and nightmares I’ve experienced and made. I have had some of the darkest days in my life. Days where I didn’t want to live in this chair one more minute. Days I could only see how bad it was or how shattered I felt. Never could I have imagined in those moments true joy existed for me. Love, happiness, success… all out of my reach. But I tell you, I am so beyond thankful that is not my story. The moments in my life have not defined me, but they certainly have shaped me. They have refined me into who I am now. 15 years of experiences have created me. And can I tell you? I love me. I am not perfect and I am not content in this wheelchair. But I am happy, I am loved and I am successful in my life. I am proud to still be working towards more in so many realms of life! I am a speaker. I am a barrel racer. I am a sister, a mentor, a daughter, a friend, an aunt. I am a future wife. I am me. And I know by being me I still have an opportunity to be even more! And that… fills me with joy.
