Annaleigh Ashford Instagram – The heavens have been blessed with another star. Sweet Linda was not only a blessing to the world but also to my family and to everyone lucky enough to know her. She was truly one of the greatest ladies of the stage and screen—a force of talent, charisma, and dedication to the craft of storytelling, with a remarkable gift for making us laugh. But to my little boy, Jack, she was something even greater. She made the best hot dogs he’d ever eaten and had what he considered the most magical house, where he loved to draw and paint with her sweet husband, Steve.
One day, Jack went to kindergarten and proudly told everyone he was friends with Linda Lavin. He even bragged that she had worked with Kermit the Frog in The Muppets Movie. Linda was a force of nature that had a way of making everyone feel special and seen, including our little Jack.
I loved this lady so very much. She was hilarious and talented, yes, but also tenacious and tender in equal measure. She was my friend, my teacher, and my scene partner, and she gave all of herself to each of those roles with unmatched generosity.
I will miss her dreadfully. My heart goes out to her family and her dear Steve, and we are sending them so much love during this time. Even as I find myself in shock over this loss, I feel so profoundly grateful to have known her and to have been blessed by her friendship.
