Beverly Joubert Instagram – In a swirling haze of dust and confusion, an ancient rivalry plays out. For the lions, success lies in their ability to work together and strategise, coordinating the chaos to work in their favour. But a buffalo is no easy target; hunts like these are about favouring reward over risk. Sadly, there’s an even greater risk that threatens even the hardiest of both predator and prey: dwindling space. As human development surges ever forward, natural habitats are shrinking and many species are being forced into smaller and smaller pockets of fragmented land where survival can be tenuous. Through @GreatPlainsConservation and @GreatPlainsFoundation, we have been working to protect natural habitats, rewildling landscapes and providing a home for imperilled species. It’s a small step towards a more sustainable future – something that we will never stop striving for.
