There are not enough words to summarize my experience on this island. From the peace to the chaos. It’s been a life changing journey for my first solo trip…More on that later.
Spirit called me to this island for my Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training. But God had so much more in store for me that rocked my world.
Last week I spent my entire day in a beautiful town called Lahaina. I fell in love with the beauty of the land, art, and people in Lahaina. I talked to chickens that roamed the streets and I watched artist carve their wooden art. I purchased my new favorite necklace, 888, from a small stand my spirit told me to shop at. I shopped and I walked in circles basking in the aura of Lahaina, not knowing that the town would be burned down days later. The 150 year old Bayan tree that I was so in awe of still stands after the fire. I see it as a symbol of resilience and a reminder to have hope after destruction.
Lives have been lost due to these fires . Homes have been destroyed and hearts have been broken. It is said that heartbreaks are the best heart openers. And Maui is known for the energy of the heart chakra. My heart has been broken open while here. And I’m witnessing first hand the tremendous amount of open hearts and communities coming together to rebuild and restore the people and the land from heartbreaking circumstances. And if you heart is open, do whatever you can to help the people of Maui, especially with donations of food, clothes, shelter and/or financial blessings. Mother Maui and the people here will greatly appreciate any blessing from your heart.
I’m still on the island. And if all goes well with my flight, I return to LA tomorrow after 16 days on this magical land. I am returning humbled by the lessons from my teacher training, the land and people of Maui have taught me.
