Candice King Instagram – I’m so excited to partner up with the @crcmidtn this month to hold a feminine hygiene drive and packing party to support our Community Resource Center’s ongoing efforts to end period poverty! Due to the high cost of menstrual products and things like the “pink tax”, not everybody has the luxury of staying stocked up on pads and tampons. Tennessee is a state with one of the HIGHEST tax rates for menstrual supplies at 7% taxed! Did you know that 38% of low income people who menstruate miss work, school, or similar activities because they have no access to feminine hygiene? Or that locally, 1 in 4 students in middle Tennessee have missed school due to lack of access to feminine hygiene? If you have, or have had, a period, we’ve all been that person in the bathroom who’s been saved by someone with an extra pad or tampon. So let’s help a period pal out!
