Chastity Ashley Instagram – I’ve been very quiet this week as it tested my spirit, with Los Angeles, my birthplace born and raised, in flames, and then my heart breaking as I held my Benji girl, my companion for 14 1/2 years, in my arms as she crossed over in New Mexico. We came here seeking peace for her final days the day the fires started, and in my embrace, she found her rest.
The unimaginable devastation everyone is going through is unparalleled and the fact that my immediate family & friends are safe is a blessing amidst the chaos.
Benji was not just my pup; she was my heart’s echo, sharing every joy and every sorrow and a part of almost every moment. Her departure is a reminder of the impermanence of life and the deep love that connects us beyond the physical. In this time of profound loss, both personal and communal, I’m reminded of how sacred each moment is on Earth.
In Benji’s honor and those whom have lost so much I’ve made a donation to @11.11media , aiding families and the countless animals displaced by the fires, hoping to share the love and compassion Benji taught me. It’s an incredible non-profit and I encourage anyone that can to give to please do so, even a little, as it goes further than you imagine 🙏🏽
To all souls feeling the weight of loss, remember: this too shall pass. Storms clear, and with time, healing begins. Our love, our memories, they transcend, becoming part of the earth, part of the new growth. May we all find peace in this cycle of life and love.
