Debra Messing Instagram – So many thoughts….
Thursday we had the largest screening of our documentary @octoberh8te at the @streickercenter in NYC. Nearly 1000 people came to see our film that follows the explosion of anti semitism on college campuses after October 7th, and the explosion of extremism that threatens our Democracy.
I am so proud of this film, and constantly humbled by the audience response. @wsachs our visionary director, along with one of the ‘stars’ of the film, young activist @tessaveksler who will no doubt be a vital voice for our community, spoke afterwards about our journey here. For those of you who have asked, exciting news about a theatrical release and streaming is coming very soon, so it will be accessible to everyone, which was always the goal.
This has been a painful few weeks. Praying for our hostages to be released, waiting for names, waiting for names of those still alive, and being crushed by H#mas’s continuous psychological torture of making and breaking promises. I can only imagine the anguish this has been causing the hostages’ families and I pray for their strength and continued faith.
We celebrate the release of 4 beautiful, brave, superhumanly strong young women who have been tortured and starved and abused for almost 16 months. The sick show they were forced to perform amidst 100s of screaming, masked, teiiorists, holding guns- the fake uniforms, the drug induced forced smiles and thank yous in Arabic, the gift bag and certificates, shows that they are Masters of propaganda. It was all required to see them back in the arms of their families. But oh how beautiful were those reunions.
Karina, Naama, Lira, Daniella welcome home.
Our film will ensure your stories are not forgotten. We pray for every remaining hostages return.
Tomorrow is 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz. We have said “Never Again, Never Forget.” As we cherish the voices of the remaining Holocaust survivors, protecting their stories to be shared by our future ancestors, let us tell our stories now. Be brave, be proud, be unignorable, wear your Chai or your Magen David, make people see that we are not going anywhere and we are not afraid.
