Making a very special film for a VERY special exhibition today. I’m not sure I’ve ever been so profoundly affected by paintings before, these are really really extraordinary. Will post more after exhibition opens…but it won’t do them justice…Christina Kimeze’s paintings need to be seen in real life !!! It reminded me of Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon, it reminded me of the story of Igbo Landing where a group of recently enslaved people absconded from a plantation in Georgia and flew back home to the coast of West Africa and it made me think of the Chimurenga in Zimbabwe, of insurgency, of liberation and of freedom!!!
