Congratulations to our dear Faith Evans! This evening, Yale University will present Faith during a Black History Month Keynote event titled, “Rooted In Artistry: Music Made to Last.” This inspiring discussion will explore Faith’s life, artistry, creativity, and cultural influence! Yesterday, I spoke to Faith and asked her if she’s ready? Faith hasn’t performed on a New York City concert stage in about 15 years. New Yorkers and New Jerseyites, are you ready for some SANGIN’ DOWN tomorrow night, Friday, February 28, at New York City’s Town Hall? On the heels of Black History Month and on the tip of Women’s History Month, the historic Town Hall will present “Keeping The Faith: Celebrating 30 Years of Music and Entertainment with Singer/Songwriting Faith Evans” featuring tribute performances by Grammy Award-nominated recording artists Durand Bernarr, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, and B.Slade, along with Faith’s daughter Chyna Tahjere and Ayana George Jackson, Matia Washington, Chenee Campbell, Anitra McKinney, Susu Montgomery, under the musical direction of multiple genre composer and conductor Damien Sneed, along with his critically acclaimed Orchestra of Tomorrow. The Grammy Award winner (with eight Grammy nominations) and the angelic soprano still remains one of popular music’s most desired vocalists in the modern-day era. Shaped by her early beginnings and musical influences in the church choir in Newark, New Jersey, Faith is among only a few performers who have been inextricably linked with the history of soul music and hip-hop. Her virtuosity as an artist is undeniable. When asked by her legion of fans and supporters around the world how she’s survived and come this far, she simply replies, “FAITH.”
