Haley Bennett Instagram – I’ve always believed that body horror is one of the most powerful and intimate genres in film—it forces us to confront the vulnerabilities of our own bodies, our fears, our desires, and the ways in which we wrestle with control. It’s a genre that allows women, in particular, to express the unspeakable—to take the things that haunt us and bring them to life in ways that are both terrifying and deeply cathartic.
And now seeing Swallow included in IndieWire’s discussion alongside The Substance, my dear friend Amy Adams “Nightbitch” from this year and all these other incredible films is truly meaningful. I’m so proud of the impact Swallow has had, and I’ll always carry that experience with me. A huge congratulations to Coralie Fargeat @coralie_fargeat and the entire team behind The Substance—what an audacious and thrilling piece of cinema. I applaud the film, the performances, and the way it pushes the genre forward.
Body horror has given us some of the most visceral, fearless storytelling in cinema, and I’m honored to be a part of that legacy. Thank you all for embracing these films, for celebrating the stories that challenge and unnerve us, and for supporting the artists who dare to go there | Posted on 02/Feb/2025 14:31:05
