I woke up this morning, struggling to find a place to put my energy. Maybe you have felt that as well.
But this case we have been following closely is in dire need of support. At a time when certain groups of immigrants in our country are being vilified, this story is important.
The Vedam family came to America from India as immigrants, and landed in the State College community of Pennsylvania. They were pillars of the community until their son Subu was targeted as the suspect for a crime he didn’t commit. While on trial, his culture was the biggest piece of “evidence” against him. He was vilified for meditation and yoga – practices that are SO common now, but demonized by the church decades ago.
Please show up if you can. History has shown over and over again that the panic about immigrants is always fear mongering, toxic propoganda.
