Kerry Washington Instagram – It’s been AMAAAAAZINGLY inspiring to see all the responses that everybody has been sending and posting about this scene in #TheSixTripleEight! So, in love and gratitude I wanna share a FUN FACT‼️: This ACTUALLY happened. IN REAL LIFE Charity Adams broke rank and said the words: “OVER MY DEAD BODY” to her superior officer, a white General in the US Army who threatened to relieve her of her duties. And in real life, she WAS court marshalled. But like she says in the film to the Chaplain that was sent to spy on them (also something that actually happened!) she knew the laws of the Army backward and forward and was able to keep her standing and remain in the military. AND – get this – She was just 26 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t command myself at 26 years old – never mind 855 other women!!!!!!!!
My goodness!!! Thank you so much for loving and celebrating this moment AND these women AND this history! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
