Lilly Krug Instagram – The surprising yet heart warming thing about the fires has been the sense of community that rose from the ashes. It has shown that people deeply care and want to help each other. The sense of empathy, compassion, and fear crossed all territorial boundaries. When disastrous strikes, people and strangers, show up. The bravest thing is to ask for the help you need – fiercely and without shame. I have the upmost respect for the firefighters and first responders who have not only shown their perseverance, courage, and bravery, but their skills prevented the fires from causing even more havoc. Their strength of spirit and conviction to save those in need has given them superhuman power. A terrifying and bold mission. No amount of gratitude will ever be enough to pay them the respect they deserve for this.
One thing that gives me hope is that we all come out of this more resilient, more prepared and that we will not let this fracture us, but bring us all closer. My prayers go out to all those who had to evacuate or lost their home. The tragedy of this is unfathomable and devastating.
