Jasmine and Syriah did something with this film that I think is probably the most creative and honest work I have ever seen. To know these silly girls who love stealing your phone to take .5 selfies and completely disarm your grown-up ego with a torrent of left-field, mind-melting questions and observations is a treasured gift. To watch them take their inherent wit and precocious creativity and shape characters that are inspired by but adjacent to themselves, come up with ideas to advance a narrative that resembles their own truth but pushes it further, and process the big questions in an engaged but subjective way is just…stunning. I am stunned. Both by this film, and the girls who created it. I am so proud to be a small part of it.
