Mrudula Murali Instagram – When my Coldplay concert tickets were booked months ago, it was not for me – I barely knew a handful of their songs. But for @nitin__vijay and @nikhil.vijayan6 , the biggest Coldplay fans I know, this was not just a concert. It was an experience they had dreamed of since childhood and they wanted me, their forever third wheel, to be there with them.
Concert week came and I was ready – playlists on repeat, lyrics memorised. But life had other plans. A day before my flight, a severe corneal scratch almost grounded me. Flying felt impossible, but I made it anyways. Things only got worse after landing – days in the hospital, pain, and slim hope that I would even make it.
On concert day, @hennamannath my savior in the chaos came to the rescue, telling the doctor, “Do whatever it takes to get her through tonight!!”
With meds, high dose painkillers and a bandage lens, I made it – half-eyed but all set!!
That night I stood there – half-blind but with a heart so full – watching these two sing every word, every note with the same passion they have carried since childhood. Their passion made every bit of pain worth it. From barely knowing their songs to feeling the magic of that night, it was unforgettable!!!!
Some people go to concerts for the music. I went for my people. And honestly.. A little drama in life is always worth it.
And for sure going to make it to another Coldplay concert – this time with two fully functioning eyes and ready to keep up with these walking Coldplay encyclopaedias beside me!!!
