But sadness, grief and burnout ek beech jo ek sabse important seekh mili woh thi the importance of being in the moment. To claim every inch of joy when you get the chance, no matter the dark clouds.
ICUs aur crematoriums jaake woh sab samajh aa jaata hai jo self help books padh ke kabhi palle na pade… zindagi aur usko acche se jeene ki ahmiyat. What is worth wasting time over and what’s not, even if you forget it occasionally, what really matters and what is just noise! 2024 ne mujhe sikhaya comfort aur khushi ko prioritise karna, jab bhi mauka mile… chahe woh ghar pe tha ya kisi aur shehar mein, ya doston aur parivaar ke beech ya phir sirf shaanti se baith ke sunset dekhna. It was the slowest year of my life, but also the most hectic for all the wrong reasons. But it taught me to be here! To take into account all the best case scenarios which we ignore when the worst case scenarios take over. To not take time for granted, to not take anything for granted. It taught me how to surrender to my limitations, and forces beyond. It taught me that I really love my family, and that they really really love me back. It taught me that sometimes the person who deserves our forgiveness the most is us. And it also taught me that not every year HAS to be your year… we can all afford a few years that don’t work out the way we’d like them to… that boring is good, as long as it gets you to bed in time to get enough sleep after a nice timely meal. It also taught me the importance of sunlight and how much I’ve missed walking. It helped me make friends with myself again. To feel enough. I hope 2025 is better, but even if it isn’t I am still enough, and that happiness and contentment does not rely on medals only. Sometimes it’s just as simple as sipping a nice cup of tea in the company of people you love and who love you back, including yourself.
