Teresa Palmer Instagram – Well, I definitely didn’t play that very cool 😂😳—but it’s not every day that one of your best friends is recognized with the highest honor from @aacta. This moment on stage felt monumental.
I’ve been @phoebejtonkin’s biggest fan since the moment I first saw her many moons ago at some rando party in Sydney in 2009 and thought, “Who is THAT?!” She was radiating all my favorite parts of her—her warmth, generosity, humor, intelligence, and deep, inherent goodness.
I’ve been cheerleading her and watching her evolve into the incredible woman she is today. Seeing this astonishing performer bloom over so many years, culminating in this moment, was deeply moving for me—which is probably why my voice turned into a high-pitched, bird-like squawk, even though I practiced backstage many times to say her name calmly in case she won 😂😂
One of my favorite moments of the night was watching back the video my son Bodhi filmed on his iPad—he captured her win, and hearing my kids’ excited little voices (and my mum’s too) cheering for Aunty Phoebe just totally lit me up. She’s a hero in our house 🥹🥹
What a magic time. It’s always such a joy attending the AACTAs, and this year was the most special yet. Thank you for asking me to present these excellent awards to such deserving people among an incredible lineup of nominees.
And well done to my current co-star Russell Crowe on hosting this year, all the wonderful performances (Paul Kelly, swoooon), and setting the stage for us to drop the trailer for our new show The Last Anniversary! Out March 27th! Cant wait to be back for more fun @aacta’s next year. Aussie Aussie Aussie!
