This rescue was particularly hard on me. I witnessed how judgmental, closed minded people are, and I witnessed this innocent creature suffer, lose her freedom , her friends, the place she thought was home, all because we humans cannot find it in our hearts to coexist with other creatures.. with the ones who mean us no harm.
It broke my heart and my spirit to take her freedom from her. My heart ached hearing her cry.. trying to escape, trying to get her freedom back.. how could I explain to her?? How could I make her understand that some people will take her life, one way or the other.. that there is no room for her, not in their space, and certainly not in their hearts.. I felt that she was so confused about what was happening, so terrified..
I am deeply conflicted and my heart is broken.. I know I saved her from dying, but I took everything from her that she loved.. I wish there was a way that she could be free and be safe.. I wish that one day, people would open their hearts to these innocent creatures.. that one day, they would open their homes to them.. till that day arrives.. I sit silently, waiting.. longing .. praying for a more compassionate world. 🌍 🕊️
