I remember when I first discovered @akilahh online back in 2016 through her YouTube channel, “Akilah, Obviously!” She was my introduction to leftist politics and progressivism back when I was forming my understanding of the US political landscape.
Fast forward to today, it feels like a full circle moment to finally photograph Akilah. We chatted about the current state of affairs under the new Administration, and how now it’s more important than ever that we mobilize and protest before more of our civil liberties are stripped away.
