Jawai is a stunning landscape where humans and wildlife—especially leopards—have coexisted for generations. But growing pressures from unregulated tourism, habitat fragmentation, and encroachments threaten this delicate balance.
A two day conference organised by @jaindilip80 @djedfoundation and @savejawai , gave us the opportunity to engage with passionate stakeholders committed to finding sustainable solutions. The energy and dedication in the room gave us hope that coexistence is not just possible but essential.
The recent tragic loss of human life, the first such incident of conflict in the region, is a stark reminder that urgent, collective action is needed. Conservation is not just about protecting wildlife—it’s about ensuring that both people and nature thrive together.
A special mention for DJed Foundation and Dilipji’s leadership in setting up a waste management facility in his village at Jawai. The amazing @kan_ji_chai_wala_bisalpur manages this facility along with a team of volunteers. They collect, segregate and manage recyclable plastic waste. An assortment of furniture items are being made with all the plastic waste that is being collected ♻️
