While waiting for my walk guest today, I happened to encounter @watsemba_miriam, who had walked with me last year. I vividly remember that memorable day when we danced in a heavy downpour, and one of our delightful discussions centered around the song “Unwritten” (by Natasha Bedingfield), particularly the line, “Feel the rain on your skin.” Today, during my conversation with @mizzflav, we reveled in the delightful sensation of the wind on our skin. I asked her what she is looking forward to this year. “I want to embrace the kind of anticipation that fills me with joy and encourages me to say, ‘let the day surprise me!’ I desire to be conscious of my existence, to feel everything, and to understand the reasons behind my emotions. I want to declare, ‘I love something’ and truly comprehend why. I don’t wish to merely go through the motions of life.” As she shared this beautiful sentiment, a gentle breeze enveloped us, much like a warm hug from nature. We lifted our hands with pure joy as we walked along, stopping to relish the wind’s playful touch at various points. I aspire to live with that very spirit—anticipating and cherishing the delightful surprises that each day brings, both big and small. I want to take the time to feel the wind brushing against my skin, the rain in my hair, the sweat on my forehead as I walk, and the delightful aroma of coffee that welcomes me each time I enter the office. As we say in Uganda, I want to ‘hurry slowly’ and savor every precious slice of life. Reflecting on my serendipitous encounter with Miriam this morning, it all feels like a beautiful tapestry woven together. Just as we reminded ourselves to feel the rain on our skin during our walk last year, today was a gentle reminder to pause, soak in the breeze, and connect with the vibrant world around me. May we all learn to live at a pace that beautifully aligns with the season we are in. #WalkTalkConnect
