Those who’ve read my book #cackhanded know I spent my whole youth plotting how to get out of the UK, & my biggest hero to have made it out, was @downtownjuliebrown.
I watched her on @mtv back in the day & it gave me hope that I could one day make it in the US as a lil black girl from London.
Fast forward 30 odd years, & working on this @myvacaya cruise, I’m in my room & I get a text from @jenkober ‘BITCH GET DOWN HERE, I’M SITTING IN FRONT OF DOWNTOWN JULIE BROWN!’
When I tell you I RAN in flip flops down several flights of stairs, through the casino, past the buffet, didn’t even stop to grab a chocolate mousse, just knocking gay men outta my way! 🤣
We greeted each other like old friends, & her & her hubby Martin, couldn’t have been sweeter.
She don’t know it yet, but we besties now 🤣.
