Gloria Estefan Instagram – In the early 70’s my parents got me, for Christmas, a pair of FM stereo headphones that had a radio tuner inside. I was so happy that I lay on our couch in the living room ready to, for the first time, listen to my music in the silence of my own head and feel it entering my body like I had never experienced. When I switched them on and tuned to my favorite station the first song I ever heard on them was “Killing Me Softly”. I was transported by the silky, warm, honey-like voice of Ms. Roberta Flack and learned the song to sing and play on my guitar. Years later I had the honor of meeting her, singing with her and telling her how she had left an indelible mark in my heart with her voice. We’ve lost another one of the greats and I hope she’s enjoying her perfect spiritual body and voice with all of the other greats we’ve lost in recent years. I feel so fortunate to have been on the planet in the last six decades to have enjoyed so much incredible music and talents like Robert Flack’s. May she fly with the angels. My condolences to everyone that loves and will miss her.
