Johanna Griggs Instagram – What a Sensational Day! Thank you to @jennavaughan_ and @joseph_w_ingram and the team from @circa1876 and all the wine partners @silkmanwines @glover.wines @thea_wines_ @scarboroughwines @winmarkwines @sabiwabi.wine @deiuliiswine @mercerwines_au @hungerfordhill @oakvalewines @briarridgevineyard and @wildstreakdistillery for your support of such a fun, informative and interesting afternoon. I felt very honoured (and so lucky) to host two of the most brilliant panels. The Emerging LeadHERS panel which featured the dynamic @emilynglover from Glover Wines, the magnificent Madi Ingram from @hellofacelady (amongst many other incredible passions) and the brilliant @lara.hagan who went from a career in Real Estate to become a chef, and who curated the most extraordinary 3 course menu that was mouth wateringly delicious. Then later in the day we got to hear from the TrailBlazeHER panel trio of a woman I adore, Liz Silkman of @silkmanwines and @firstcreekwines and the first person in the Hunter to be named the Halliday Winemaker Of The Year amongst many other phenomenal achievements. We also heard from the wonderful Marianne Villanueva who left a 20 year career in finance where she was CFO of a major multinational medical company – leading their Global IT Projects, mergers and acquisitions before leaving that life to become an entrepreneur who runs @hunterlavenderfarm and the remarkable Professor Nikki De Iuliis who is a cancer biologist at the @uni_newcastle and the @hmriaustralia and whose research centres on understanding the molecular changes that occur as a normal cell becomes cancerous, and as cancer cells become resistant to therapy. Her major focus is on leukaemia and breast cancer. To say that this was a fascinating day with a zillion take homes from listening to these six super smart, successful women is an understatement.
