At least, that was the case until Jefferson unsuspectingly landed her big break in 2019—a starring role in Tiny Pretty Things, a Netflix series chronicling the trials and tribulations of teen students in an elite ballet academy. “I did not know I was auditioning for the main character,” she say. “How often is the Black girl the main character on a TV show, especially when we’re talking about ballet?” Her second big acting gig? Joining the star-studded ensemble cast—alongside @kerrywashington and @oprahwinfrey—in @tylerperry’s 2024 film The Six Triple Eight.
