Lilan Bowden Instagram – This story is terribly chilling and important. Saturday night, DHS unlawfully arrested and kidnapped a Palestinian student and activist of Columbia University, Mahmoud Khalil. The plainclothes agents claimed his student visa was revoked, even though Mahmoud is a legal permanent resident (green card) and not in the US on a student visa. They also threatened to arrest his 8 months pregnant wife, a US Citizen. Last I read, Khalil is being held in Louisiana.
The US government has always been guilty of violating its own laws and right to free speech, especially targeting people who speak out politically, but has been better at maintaining a more just facade. It’s not new to this current administration, but this administration is doing this to show that no one is safe anymore, no one is legally protected. They are doing everything they can to scare us.
Please sign the petition in my stories and share this far and wide. We as people need to keep showing we are watching too, we won’t be silent about our political actions, and we won’t forget who they are trying to make disappear.
