Lily Gladstone Instagram – Lily Gladstone’s Oscar gowns are heading to the Smithsonian! ✨
The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C. will display two gowns worn by @LilyGladstone (Siksikaitsitapi/Nimiipuu) at the 2024 Oscars in a special exhibition, Making a Statement, opening tomorrow (Feb. 28) through March 2026.
Designed by @Gucci in collaboration with Mohawk, Cree, and Comanche artist Joe Big Mountain (@joe.bigmtn) of Ironhorse Quillwork, these gowns mark the first-ever Oscars collaboration between an Indigenous artist and a luxury fashion house.
“One gown, worn by Gladstone to the Oscars ceremony, is midnight-blue velvet with a porcupine-quill neckline and a matching cape featuring 216 hand-quilled and beaded petals. The second, worn to the @VanityFair Oscars party, is a black corseted dress with chevron-patterned beaded fringe and a porcupine-quill neckline, intricately designed with 24k gold-plated beads, glass beads, and brass sequins.” (@smithsoniannmai)
