We witnessed a nostalgic recreation of a gulli in Calcutta, where life unfolds in its most unfiltered form. From crumbling walls to lantern-lit pathways, every detail echoed the soul of a bygone India. Yet, the runway wasn’t a sepia-tinted homage to the past but rather a strikingly modern interpretation of heritage.
Sabyasachi’s styling captured the spirit of a country that embraces contradiction. His creations fused vintage weaves with contemporary silhouettes, age-old jewelry traditions with avant-garde pairings, and bold colors with earthy tones.
Yes, Sabyasachi did celebrate his 25 year old journey as a designer; but more so celebrating India’s journey as a global icon, proving that the way forward is through honoring where we’ve been.
