Mona Chalabi Instagram – Last week, a team of demographers published a study on life expectancy in Gaza. They found that the average life span has dropped from 76 years to just 41 years. People’s lives have been cut in half.
This is the most cautious estimate. The researchers explained that if they were to include indirect violence (e.g. Israel’s use of mass starvation and its deliberate deprivation of medical supplies), life expectancy in Gaza today would be even lower.
