Naomie Harris Instagram – Believe it or not, I have always been terrified of public speaking! People assume that because I’m an actress it comes naturally to me… it definitely doesn’t! I actually hide behind my characters. I’ve said ‘No’ to so many opportunities that involved speaking in public over the years, but I’m trying to challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone… so last night I agreed to present an award to the incredible designer and humanitarian @brunellocucinelli at the CNMI sustainable fashion awards… not realising that it would be in front of a packed audience at one of Milans biggest and most famous theatres. I prayed for Jesus’s help to calm my nerves and my prayer was answered not only with a beautiful and unexpected sense of peace, but also in the form of the utterly amazing host for the event #FriedaPinto. Frieda commanded the stage such supreme confidence and poise, that it inspired me. It’s funny how seeing someone else display confidence can awaken our own sense of bravery. Huge shout out to Frieda for shining her light so brightly and fearlessly that it made my own burn brighter! And huge congratulations to @brunellocucinelli_brand for showing the fashion industry that Humanistic capitalism is not only possible but a viable business model. Also, special thanks to my gorgeous friend @afuahirsch for accepting my last minute invite to Milan, and of course the incredible team at both @itg_ltd and @madeineb that made it all possible. Oh and my incredible, loyal glam team @kennethsohmakeup and @rio_hair for taking the last flights back to London so they could get me ready.
