Got to work with some legends directing I Am Raquel Welch (Tonight March 8 – 8 pm ET/PT @thecw ) and @ederbez was one of them. One of the most influential and prolific Latin American actor / director / producers in the world, I first saw him in the Oscar-nominated CODA and have been struck by his range since delving into more of his work. Comedy, drama, he can do it all. He showed up for this doc to honour Raquel, who he sought out for his film How To Be A Latin Lover, and his love, and care for her not just as an icon, but a human being who endured so much, was beautifully apparent. Happy Black History Month ❤️ Posted @withregram • @nigh.functioning.autism Henry “Crip” Heard…Since we are talking about the “C Walk” that the lovely @serenawilliams performed last night for the Super Bowl… This is a reminder this Black History Month that Black Disabled History is still suppressed and erased and not given credit. I keep seeing this dance attributed to every other group 🙄 The Crip in the Crip walk is for “cripple” not for the gang. It just so happens that it the dance move was brought back in the 70’s, but it was created by Henry “Crip” Heard, a double amputee. We are proud of our Black Disabled History and won’t allow anyone to erase us. 🧑🏽🦼🦿🦾

in the middle of the writer and actor’s strike in 2023, I got a call from @network_entertainment to direct a feature length documentary about Hollywood icon, Raquel Welch. I was fascinated, in the wake of Marilyn Monroe’s tragic death, the same studio Marilyn was contracted to now signed Raquel, who subsequently became the most famous and photographed woman on the planet. I wanted to understand what it must’ve been like to not just be the world’s biggest sex symbol, but to be a sex symbol at a time when women weren’t allowed to have credit cards or own homes. Raquel was a trailblazer, one of the first action heroines, and an icon from an era of Hollywood that only exists in legends now. She shattered expectations and redefined what it meant to be a star, all while being a single mom whose Latina heritage was largely ignored because of the times. From One Million Years B.C. to 100 Rifles and beyond, her legacy lives on. So proud to have directed this, big thanks to @network_entertainment and Raquel’s estate.
