Anoushey Ashraf Instagram - In the midst of my Nikkah I managed to make a heartfelt dua for the ease of every individual’s pain and suffering. I prayed for Pakistan, Palestine, all animals & nature. Prayed for healing of the sick, for oppression to end, for those looking for a companion in life, for those who’re in difficult marriages. All this because my khala had mentioned it’s a very sacred time to open one’s heart and ask for miracles.
And then I thanked the Lord for always looking out for me. I had made an attempt to get married once many years ago because ‘age’ was catching up with me. The pressure was real. A woman can be successful, educated, financially independent and can have travelled the world but if she’s happily ‘unmarried’ there has to be something “wrong” with her given situation. And just for that one silly nagging factor…I was in it for all the wrong reasons.
Fortunately, people have their say and then Allah (swt) has His way. And nothing compares to His love, grace and blessings. You’re only on your ‘own’ time. No train has left the station and no ship has sailed, okay? And even though you can’t ever guarantee success in any situation you can at least trust your gut and do the best when you are ready. It baffles me how being married somehow elevates a woman’s status in society. One thing everyone must understand…some of us will get married, others won’t, some will have children, others wont etc. This is life. It isn’t the end of it…it isn’t the beginning of it. Living with awareness is everything. Living in a state of acceptance and gratitude is true freedom and I wish that for every soul on earth before I wish for them shaadi, bacchas and money.
Am excited to start this new chapter of my life with my best friend. May Allah bless this union and may the two of us always have the ability to be kind and respectful towards one another. We’re so grateful to each and every one of you for your well wishes and love. He is all that I wished for. And more! Keep us in your prayers. Mubarak ho! Jashan manao, nacho!!

Prayed for Pakistan, Palestine and for every soul who’s in distress today, regardless of their faith. Prayed for our collective health and contentment. Prayed for all animals on this planet for they are abused in abundance. Prayed for sustenance, stability and health. Prayed for our environment. Big prayers for Nature, whom we neglect and usurp aplenty and even then she gives back generously and consistently. I’m in awe of all our mountains, animals, oceans, glaciers, lakes, wildlife etc… they’ve been my best friend over very many years and as Lahore City braces itself for the poorest air quality in the world, I pray we do better for our children. I pray we understand how underpasses and restaurants are not a sign of progress if we haven’t evolved our collective consciousness as human beings. There is nothing to take pride in, humility is perhaps our biggest salvation. So the next time you abuse another, think about the filth and pollution your hands, tongues and your intentions have left in this world for where they shall forever remain, circulating and coming back to you tenfold. You give sickness, you get sickness. Even our children won’t be spared.

My prayer may be a drop in the Ocean but in God’s realm, everyone is heard and all requests are taken into account. I know He hears me. And that gives my heart deep rest. I’m forever grateful. Flu, fever, congestion, dizzines. I’ve heard it all, felt it all, lived it all. The doctors seem as lost as everyone else.
It’s wild how something as simple as breathing clearly or sleeping without pain feels like a luxury once it’s taken away.

I’ve spent these days slowing down, cancelling life, sipping endless warm cups, and reminding myself that health isn’t just a blessing, it’s the foundation of everything.
When your body breaks, even a little, your world shrinks to the size of a bed, a soup, and a prayer.

I’m still recovering, slowly.
But I’m waking up grateful for energy returning in tiny sparks, for lungs that feel a little lighter, for moments where the world feels normal again.

If you’re healthy today, pause and honour it.
If you’re recovering, be gentle with yourself.
And if you’re struggling, I’m sending you so much love; it will pass.

Here’s to better days, kinder bodies, and the quiet miracle of feeling like yourself again. 🤍
