Caption : Please save 🤍 Our Bhutan Itinerary STAY @sixsensesbhutan, they have 5 lodges in Bhutan. We stayed 3 nights in Punakha & 2 nights in Paro & stopped over at the Thimphu one. All stunning. Could not recommend more. Food was impeccable & totally customisable. Our itinerary was completely managed & planned by the hotel. THIMPHU (Stopover between Paro – Punakha) – Stopped at Six Senses Thimphu for lunch – Visited the giant Buddha Dordenma PUNAKHA – Traditional monastic breakfast with young monks at a hilltop monastery. Followed by a mindfulness & meditation session by their chief abbot. How much you take away from this depends entirely on how much you speak to them/your interest – Momo-making class at the lodge – Sunset cocktail-making workshop in the rice-fields – Visited a beautiful nunnery in Nobgang & spent time with the nuns – Sangchen Dorji Lhendrup Nunnery – Explored Punakha Dzong (an architectural dream) – Walked across Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge – Picnic lunch at a pine forest – BBQ night at the lodge PARO – Lunch at the home of a local family who have been making prayer flags by hand for generations. Over lunch, we got an insight into rural Bhutanese life, learned the secrets of their craft and made our own prayer flags – Archery session with our guide (competitive but hilarious). So fun! – Visited bhutans largest temple – Shopped local in Paro town (don’t skip Tara Handicrafts) – Ended with a butter lamp blessing at a monastery near the lodge. The monks also let us sit through a chanting session. – Dotsho, a traditional hot stone bath experience known to have healing abilities. We did this at a local farmhouse – Gakiling farm house. Not luxurious but v authentic experience ALSO 🩷 – We had a guide & driver with us the whole time that the hotel arranged – We spent all our evenings in the heated pools of our villa/hotel PS Our itinerary doesn’t include any hiking because we didn’t hike. Shailin recently had his ACL surgery so we couldn’t!Likes : 31828
