I would like to take this opportunity and thank all those wonderful human beings who do this on a daily basis. This rescue was particularly hard on me. I witnessed how judgmental, closed minded people are, and I witnessed this innocent creature suffer, lose her freedom , her friends, the place she thought was home, all because we humans cannot find it in our hearts to coexist with other creatures.. with the ones who mean us no harm.

It broke my heart and my spirit to take her freedom from her. My heart ached hearing her cry.. trying to escape, trying to get her freedom back.. how could I explain to her?? How could I make her understand that some people will take her life, one way or the other.. that there is no room for her, not in their space, and certainly not in their hearts.. I felt that she was so confused about what was happening, so terrified..

I am deeply conflicted and my heart is broken.. I know I saved her from dying, but I took everything from her that she loved.. I wish there was a way that she could be free and be safe.. I wish that one day, people would open their hearts to these innocent creatures.. that one day, they would open their homes to them.. till that day arrives.. I sit silently, waiting.. longing .. praying for a more compassionate world. 🌍 🕊️

Uzma Hassan Instagram - For 24 years, she has been imprisoned. Like many animals, she’s a prisoner without a crime. She’s in agony, suffering from a painful tooth infection. Four Paws intl offered medical treatment during their visit to Pakistan, but the authorities incharge didn’t respond.

After public pressure, KMC did form a committee to move her to the Balkasar sanctuary. That was months ago. She’s still there. The committee has not held a meeting since the decision was taken.

I urge you to request KMC and the honourable mayor @barristermurtazawahab to not delay this any further! It’s getting hotter. She’s lived her whole life in pain. Please send her to Balkasar now.

The one who left no stone unturned, who kept reminding me that I’m not a burden, that it is Allah who is inviting me to come and how I must not decline. The one who made sure I show up, and even offered to cover my expenses if my cheque didn’t come through on time, the one who didn’t want to leave me behind, at any cost…the one who literally held my hand and guided me throughout the Tawaaf, even though she had her kids and family to look after. The one who wanted so much for me to experience the ‘sakoon’ , to put my duas before God.. the one who made sure I’m comfortable, even at the cost of her own comfort.. that I eat properly, sleep properly, don’t feel left out at any given time..

Who said, “Baji, Umrah family ke saath hi karte hain. You’re my family.’

when I wondered and was in doubt if I even deserve to go, she said, “ koi aapke ghar apki marzi ke baghair aasakta hai? Nai na. Toh Allah ki marzi hai ke aap aaein. HE is calling you.”

“Aap dekhna. Apki Namaz badal jaye gi.”

When I was nervous that I might forget what I have to recite, she said :
“Nothing matters. It’s just you and Him. He knows what is in your heart.”

She held my hand and asked me to lower my gaze as we entered the Haram, and look up only when she tells me to, so that I could see the Kaaba 🕋 up close and then pray with all my heart..
“Jo dil mein, keh dein.. Agay Woh jaane.”
