Amanda Palmer Instagram – Spring in New York City, ahhhhhh. Random cloth objects hang in the trees. The new tower, the old towers. The new flowers against the old buildings, the sounds of the new cars crashing and the old wedding bells ringing.
I was born here, city of love and hate and mess and order and hope and despair and immigrants and magicians and self-starters and gamblers and lawyers and madmen and Broadway singers and chaos and queers and writers and thinkers and art art art and reminders around every corner that there is always another facet, another side, another angle, another mixture of colors that someone’s never tried together in one painting. Some of my best friends live here and I’m getting to merge with them for a moment. I wrote about a dinner party for the readers on my Patreon, and I brought their thoughts with me. The collective is thinking.
This season always brings shuffle-head and restarting-energy anyway, and this season is especially weird. I have a ton of hope and fizz in my heart right now despite so much despair and whirling in the country and right in my yard…the news is fritzing, the people are slowly thinking about revolting, the things that aren’t working are being laid bare, the system is churning and someone, someone, someone in New York City hung a giant blanket in a tree for reasons I cannot tease out. It’s shaped like an M. For Maybe?

I’m writing near-daily and recording voicerambles again for the patreon and working on new material to play at the Boston (May 10) and NYC (May 17) shows coming up. These songs are coming out fully-formed, like Athena springing out of Zeus’ head.
